A custom cabinetry project moves through clear stages, and knowing them in advance keeps expectations realistic and the process calm. Most homeowners underestimate design time and overestimate installation time.
Consultation and brief (1–2 weeks)
The project begins with a conversation about goals, style, daily routines, timing and budget. This stage sets the entire direction, so it should never be rushed.
Site visit and field measurement (1 week)
Accurate field measurement is non-negotiable. Walls are rarely square, floors rarely level, and appliance clearances are exact. Everything that follows depends on this step being right.
Design development (2–4 weeks)
Plans, 3D views, storage layouts, material and hardware selection are refined with you over several rounds. This is where most of the decisions that define the finished room are made.
Production (4–10 weeks)
Once approved, cabinetry enters production under documented specifications. Lead time depends on material availability, finish complexity and shop schedule. Waiting here is normal — it is how quality is protected.
Delivery and installation (1–2 weeks)
Cabinetry is delivered and installed with exacting alignment, clean work practices and careful hardware adjustment. Countertop templating usually follows once cabinets are set.
Final walkthrough and support (ongoing)
A walkthrough resolves final adjustments and covers care. The relationship should continue with responsive support well after the installers leave.
